General Leasing Questions

Is Internet included in the rates?

Internet is included in your lease agreement.

Can friends and family use my meal card?

If a resident has a meal plan at UT, their parents can eat a free meal with them in the Dining Hall when they come to visit! Your friends and other family members are not able to use your meal card, however, they are more than welcome to purchase a guest meal ticket at the front desk.

Can we hang curtains and pictures on the walls?

Your room is already furnished with mini-blinds. Please do not hang curtains since the nails will damage the wall vinyl around the windows. To decorate your room you may use pushpins or poster putty but we do not allow nails, screws or anything that will leave a visible hole in the wall.

Does my UT card work on-campus for food?

Your UT I.D. card only works at University Towers and does not apply to on-campus stores or dining halls.

How are roommates matched?

We have partnered with RoomSync to provide a modern matching platform where residents choose their own roommates. After you complete the leasing process you will be emailed a link to join our RoomSync network. You will then log in to RoomSync using Facebook, create a matching profile, and begin your search to find your new best friend - or roommate for starters. If you already have a roommate in mind, you can confirm your roommate request within RoomSync.

How are rooms assigned?

Residents who already have preferred roommates can confirm their roommate match requests using RoomSync, our roommate matching platform. If they do not already have a roommate, residents will search for and choose their own roommate using RoomSync. Residents will be able to communicate with each other during and after the selection process. In the event that potential roommates discover that they are no longer compatible, they can request a different roommate and we will do our best to accommodate any change request. To provide sufficient time and the greatest opportunity for residents to find the perfect roommate, they should apply and sign a lease as early as possible.

Is phone service included in the rates?

No, the phone service is optional. If you are interested in setting up your phone line, you may call AT&T. You will need to bring your own phone. Please be aware that not all cordless phones function well in our building.

If I am over 21, do I need a guarantor?

Yes. All leases are required to have a guarantor. If an approved guarantor cannot be obtained, Greystar will accept a security deposit of $928.

What do we need to know for our computer hook up?

You will need a computer with: a minimum 512 megs of RAM, a minimum of 40 megs free on your hard drive, Windows XP or higher (or a Mac OS 9 or higher), a web browser (such as Internet Explorer), a Network Interface Card and a CAT5 or CAT6 (Ethernet) cable.

What if I find someone to room with after I sent in my request?

You can change your roommate assignment card anytime up until June 1st. All requests must be in writing and turned in to the business office by June 1.

What is the most popular meal plan?

The rooms are approximately 10' x 21'.

What size are the furnished beds?

The beds at University Towers are extra-long twin in our double occupancy suites and full size in our single occupancy suites.

When will we find out our room/roommate assignments?

Your room/roommate assignment will be mailed to you by the first week in August. At that time you will also receive information concerning check-in.

Will my student receive parking?

Parking in our deck is available to residents for an additional cost. Parking is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to the date your lease agreement is signed. As spaces are limited, we are not able to offer parking to all of our residents. Once your lease is signed, you will receive information about how to apply for parking online.

Will we have access to the campus system?

Yes, through the Internet. You will be able to check your email account and access any class assignments you need.

Renewal Questions

Can I request different roommates?

We want you to be comfortable here, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your roommate requests.

How do I renew?

We know how busy you are, so we have made the process as quick and easy as possible. Just complete the Quick App that will be placed on your door this fall and turn it in at the front desk. It's that simple! We will then email you a lease for you and your guarantor to sign.

If I renew, do I have to move out and then move back in?

Our leases run with the academic year from August until May, so a move out will be required. We do offer a Summer lease term, as well. These leases are all housed on the same floor, so a move may out be required.

If I renew, will my guarantor have to sign again?

No. Your guarantor doesn't have to do anything extra!

I'm graduating in December, can I still renew?

Contact the office for details on the options available to you.

I just moved in, is it too early to renew?

Renewing now will provide the most benefit to you. By signing early, you will secure your space for next year and have first priority on room and floor preferences. Current residents will have first priority on room requests, including 8th floor single rooms, through October 31!
