What is the size of the rooms?
The rooms are approximately 10' X 21'.
What size are the furnished beds?
The beds at University Towers are extra long twins.
Can we hang curtains and pictures on the walls?
Your room is already furnished with mini-blinds. Please do not hang curtains since the nails will damage the wall vinyl around the window. To decorate your room you may use pushpins or poster putty – we do not allow nails, screws or anything that will leave a visible hole in the wall.
What is the most popular meal plan?
Unlimited. There is not much of a cost difference between the unlimited and 14 meals per week plans. Unlimited offers the convenience of not having to keep count of how many meals you have eaten in a week—thus you never run out of meals!
Does my UT card work on-campus for food?
Your UT I.D. card only works at University Towers and does not apply to on-campus stores or dining halls.
Can friends and family use my meal card?
Parents always eat FREE at University Towers! Your friends and other family members are not able to use your meal card, however, they are more than welcome to purchase a guest meal ticket at the front desk.
Will my student receive parking?
Parking is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to the date your lease agreement is signed. As spaces are limited, we are not able to offer parking to all of our residents. You will be mailed a parking application if you are eligible for a space (based on your lease signed date).
If my student does not know of anyone they want to live with, how will a roommate be chosen?
UT will mail you a room preference card with your lease copies. On this card you can indicate smoker/non-smoker, major, classification, room preference, floor preference, and roommate and suitemates preferences if you have them. The Resident Manager uses these cards to determine room assignments and match roommates.
What if I find someone to room with after I sent in my request?
You can change your roommate assignment card anytime up until June 1st. All requests must be in writing and turned into the business office by this date.
When will we find out our room/roommate assignments?
Your room/roommate assignment will be mailed to you by the first week in August. At that time you will also receive information concerning check-in.
Is Phone service included in the rates?
No, the phone service is optional. If you are interested in setting up your phone line, you may call AT&T. You will need to bring your own phone. Please be aware that not all cordless phones function well in our building.
How about Internet and Cable TV?
Both Internet and Cable TV are included in your lease agreement and are not optional.
What do we need to know for our computer hook up?
You will need a computer with: a minimum 512 megs of RAM, a minimum of 40 megs free on your hard drive, Windows XP or higher (or a Mac OS 9 or higher), a web browser (such as Internet Explorer), a Network Interface Card and a CAT5 or CAT6 (Ethernet) cable.
Will we have access to the campus system?
Yes, through the Internet. You will be able to check your email account and access any class assignments you need.
When I come to visit my student where can I park?
You can park in UT’s visitor parking spaces. Please be aware that neighboring businesses TOW aggressively. PLEASE BE SURE TO REGISTER YOUR CAR AT THE UT FRONT DESK WHILE VISITING YOUR STUDENT.
